Al Karkh grabs 2015-2016 Iraqi league title for its 18th time in the club history !!

Finally Al Karkh won the Iraqi league title again after they beat Al Mina (The Black horse of the league this season) in the final serieis 4/2 "Games which played in the regular season counted in the series result"
the results of this 6 games were:
Regular Season: Game 1 (30th,Oct,2015): Al Mina 64-70 Al Karkh
Regular Season: Game 2 (12th,Feb,2016): Al Karkh 74-79 Al Mina
Final Four: Game 3 (05th,March,2016): Al Mina 61-84 Al Karkh
Finals: Game 4 (17th,March,2016): Al Karkh 63-75 Al Mina
Finals: Game 5 (19th,March,2016): Al Mina 72-79 Al Karkh
Finals: Game 6 (21th,March,2016): Al Karkh 75-66 Al Mina

Its the 18th league tittle in Al Karkh club history, but its the first league tittle since the Iraqi federation allow teams to sign with foreign players since season 2012-2013, the coach Mohammed Najjar won the league for his 8th time in his history, he took the head coach position of team in February.
On the other hand Al Mina was the biggest surprise in the league this season, the team wasnot between the top candidates to fight on the league tittle, but the coach of team Asad Alawi and management of team knew how to build good team compete on the tittle, they were the first team which started the preparation for the season.

Congrats for Al Karkh Staff and Players for winning the league tittle, and hardluck for Al Mina staff and players you had really great season guys !!

Saigon Heat (VBA) landed 29-year old American power forward Travele Jones (203-88, college: Texas Southern). He played most recently at Nift Al-Janoub in Iraqi Superleague. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Iraqi League Honorable Mention. Jones also played that season for Atletico Welcome in Uruguayan LUB where in three games he averaged impressive 16.3ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.3apg and 2.0spg last season. Bobby Brown (ex Al Mina) is a newcomer at Zilina - 8 days ago
Newly promoted PP TV Raj Zilina (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old American swingman Bobby Brown (201-91kg-94, college: Alabama State). He played last season at Al Mina in Iraqi Superleague. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Iraqi League Honorable Mention. Brown's team was regular season runner-up in SWAC in 2015. He graduated from Alabama State in 2016 and it will be his second season as a professional player.   [read more]

Al Shurtah signs Weyinmi Rose !! - 17 days ago
Al Shurtah Police (Superleague) signed 31-year old Jamaican ex-international swingman Weyinmi Rose (196-96kg-86, college: Providence). He is a dual citizen owning also American passport. Rose played last summer at Huracanes del Atlantico in LNB league in Dominican Republic. In 10 games he had very impressive stats: 16.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.6apg and 1.7spg.
