Superleague Round 10: Al Karkh keeps a leadership position - Jan 22, 2016

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Al Karkh as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Karkh defeated their biggest opponent Al Shurtah at home 78-67. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Al Shurtah. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Karkh have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Al Mina. Defending champion Al Shurtah dropped to the third place with two games lost. Al Shurtah will play next round against strong Al Mina trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Karkh will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Al Nift in Baghdad.
Leader Al Mina delivered the seventh victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Al Kahraba (2-6) 85-51 in Basra. Al Mina (7-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Al Karkh. Al Kahraba lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Al Mina will play against Al Shurtah (#3) in Baghdad in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al Kahraba's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Suleikh.

In the last game of round 10 Al-Tadamoun was crushed by Al Nift in Baghdad 86-54.

There was no surprise in Baghdad where 6th ranked Al-Tadamoun (1-6) was crushed by fourth ranked Al Nift (4-4) 86-54. Al Nift maintains fourth position with 4-4 record. Al-Tadamoun lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with six games lost. Al Nift will play against league's leader Al Karkh at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Al-Tadamoun will have a break next round.
