Riyadi cruised past Duhok tonight to seal the WABA League quarterfinal series sweep. The Lebanese team thus advanced into semifinals where they would face Champville.
Riyadi enjoyed a 15-point buffer after the game in Iraq. The Lebanese team stressed their dominance once again tonight opening the proceedings with a 23:7 run. The hosts poured in 38 points in the opening quarter to take a massive 23-point lead at the first break. Riyadi secured a 53:35 halftime advantage. They maintained the lead easily throughout the second half. Riyadi entered the final stanza up by 14 points and never looked back en route to the win. Dewarick Spencer (193-G-82, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Arkansas St.) knocked down 34 points to lead Riyadi. Jean Abdel Nour (198-F/G-83, agency: Pro Management Agency) and Ali Kanaan (205-C/F-85, agency: Pro Management Agency, college: Mass.-Lowell) added 16 points each in the victory. Malcolm Battles (205-F/C-79, college: N.Mexico) answered with 37 points and 18 rebounds for Duhok. Qutaiba Al-Doori (198-G/F-80) finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss.

Superleague is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. Leader Al Shurtah delivered the tenth win on Monday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Al-Tadamoun (4-7) 106-67 in Baghdad. Al Shurtah maintains first place with 10-1 record. Al-Tadamoun lost fifth consecutive game. The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Al Shurtah (9-1) in Baghdad on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Al Nift (8-2) 78-71. Defending champion Al Karkh (Superleague) inked 25-year old American swingman Corday Sims (196-95kg-91, college: Peru State). He started the season at Arantia in Luxembourg Total League. In 13 games he averaged impressive 25.1ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg this season.
