Riyadi cruised past Duhok tonight to seal the WABA League quarterfinal series sweep. The Lebanese team thus advanced into semifinals where they would face Champville.
Riyadi enjoyed a 15-point buffer after the game in Iraq. The Lebanese team stressed their dominance once again tonight opening the proceedings with a 23:7 run. The hosts poured in 38 points in the opening quarter to take a massive 23-point lead at the first break. Riyadi secured a 53:35 halftime advantage. They maintained the lead easily throughout the second half. Riyadi entered the final stanza up by 14 points and never looked back en route to the win. Dewarick Spencer (193-G-82, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Arkansas St.) knocked down 34 points to lead Riyadi. Jean Abdel Nour (198-F/G-83, agency: Pro Management Agency) and Ali Kanaan (205-C/F-85, agency: Pro Management Agency, college: Mass.-Lowell) added 16 points each in the victory. Malcolm Battles (205-F/C-79, college: N.Mexico) answered with 37 points and 18 rebounds for Duhok. Qutaiba Al-Doori (198-G/F-80) finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss.

Superleague Round 5 (Second Stage): Nift Al-Janoub loses to Al Nift in the game between Top 4 teams - 15 days ago
Very significant was Al Nift's (#1, 22-3) victory against 3rd placed Nift Al-Janoub (18-7) 83-62. Al Nift (22-3) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Newly promoted Nift Al-Janoub keeps the third position with seven games lost. The biggest surprise of round 1 in Superleague took place in Baghdad where host Al Shurtah (8-3) beat Al Mina (3-8) 97-80 on Friday evening. Al Mina will play next round against strong Al Nift trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Al Shurtah will try to continue on its current victory against Al Kahraba. Al Karkh (Superleague) signed 26-year old American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-100kg-91, college: Johnson C. Smith). He just played at Al Noor in Saudi Arabian SBL league. A very impressive season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL Honorable Mention. Wilkerson also played earlier that season for Al Ittihad (Premier League) in Bahrain.
