Byron
Mullens
Naft Abadan (Superleague) signed 28-year old British ex-international center Byron Mullens (213-125kg-89, college: Ohio State). He played last season at Al Wasl in UAE D1 league.
Mullens ended the previous (2015-16) season at Konyaspor in Turkish BSL where in 9 games he had 9.8ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.1apg. But the most of that year he spent at another team Sioux Falls Skyforce in U.S. NBA-G-League. In 27 games he recorded 9.1ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.4apg.
In 2009 Mullens was drafted by Dallas Mavericks (NBA) in first round (24th overall). The former Ohio State staris in his ninth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Mullens won D-League Central Division championship title in 2015. He was also voted Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year back in 2009 at his college time. Mullens was a member of British Senior National Team in 2014.
He is quite experienced player. Mullens has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in China (Brave Dragons and Shaanxi Wolves), Greece (Panionios), NBA (LA Clippers, Phi.76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets) and NBA G League (Oklahoma City Blue).
Mullens could be described: Has tremendous presence and a good sense of where he is on the floor with his back to the basket. Excellent finisher. Solid rebounder and shot-blocker. Fundamentally sound for his position ... Most of his points come off pick and rolls, put-backs and second shots opportunities, as well as dunks around the basket and alley-oops.
