Asghar
Kardoust
Shahrdary Tabriz (Superleague) signed 31-year old international center Asghar Kardoust (212-124kg-86) from Shahrdary Arak. In 33 Superleague games he had 13.5ppg, 8.3rpg (#5 in the league) and 1.0bpg last season. Kardoust helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very impressive season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Honorable Mention. Kardoust was also voted Asia-basket.com All-West Asia Basketball Championships 1st Team in 2017.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team was regular season runner-up in Iranian Superleague in 2008 and 2012.
He has been also a member of Iranian international program for some years. Kardoust has regularly played for Iranian senior team since 2009 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2004.
He represented Iran at the West Asia Basketball Championships in Amman (Jordan) this year. Kardoust's team won Silver and his stats at that event were 5 games: 7.6ppg, 4.8rpg, FGP-3 (61.1%), FT: 58.3%.
Kardoust has played also professionally in Kuwait (Kazma), Lebanon (Champville) and Iran (Saba, Azad, Mahram, Jahesh Tarabar and Foolad Mahan).
He could be described: A solid center, who takes a lot of room in the paint and doesn' t fear any opponent. Needs to improve a little his offensive skills, but he's yet an effective presence at the defensive side.
