Irish-Australian Center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Azad, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 7 (Second Stage).
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds, while his team Azad maintains the 2nd position in their group in Iranian Superleague. Azad is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 3rd lost game this season out of 6 games. Ogilvy just recently signed at Azad and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Andrew James Ogilvy averages just after two games 15.5ppg and 12.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old American James White (201-F/G-82, agency: Three Eye Sports) of Group 2 leader Petrochimi. White had a very good evening with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Petrochimi to another comfortable win 80-64 over slightly lower-ranked Azad (#2, 3-3) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Petrochimi still keep Group 1's top spot. His team lost just one game this Second Stage, while they won 5 matches. White is a newcomer at Petrochimi, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international center Mohammad Shahsavand (210-C-77) of Gorgan (#5). Shahsavand scored 27 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Shahsavand's great performance Gorgan lost 71-81 to slightly higher-ranked Chemidor (#3, 3-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Gorgan can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group 1. They have extremely bad season and 1-4 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Shahsavand he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Shahsavand has a very solid season. In 18 games in Iran he scored 6.4ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Dominique Jones (193-G-88) of Azad - 28 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Daniel Johnson (210-C/F-88) of Petrochimi - 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Saeed Davarpanah (190-G/F-87) of Naft Abadan - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-PF-90) of Naft Abadan - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Doron Perkins (189-G-83) of Naft Abadan - 10 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists
9. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-86) of Arak - 9 points and 9 rebounds
10. Amir Sedighi (203-F-93) of Chemidor - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
