Best players of Iranian Superleague round 5 (Second Stage) - Apr 6, 2017

Mohammad
Yousofvand
Talented Former international Center Mohammad Yousofvand (207-C-96) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Azad and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage).
The 20-year old center had a double-double of 18 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team was edged out by Gorgan (#5, 1-3) 76-75. Azad maintains the 2nd position in their group in Iranian Superleague. Azad is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 2nd lost game this season out of 4 games. It was one of impressive evenings for Yousofvand as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Mohammad Yousofvand averages this season 6.9ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was -year old Sajjad Pazrofteh of Tabriz. Pazrofteh impressed basketball fans with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Tabriz to another comfortable win 74-57 over slightly higher-ranked Army (1-2) being unquestionably team leader. Tabriz's 4th position in Group 2 has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 1-2 record. Pazrofteh is well-known by Tabriz fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Mahdi Moradinasab (202-C-92) of Gorgan (#5). Moradinasab scored 24 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Gorgan, leading his team to a 76-75 win against the higher-ranked Azad (#2, 2-2). Gorgan can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group 1. They have extremely bad season and 1-3 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Moradinasab he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Moradinasab has a very solid season. In 18 games in Iran he scored 10.0ppg. He also has 5.9rpg and and 3PT: 40.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Arsalan Kazemi (200-SF-90) of Army - 15 points and 11 rebounds
5. Erfan Nasajpour (177-PG-84) of Tabriz - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Nikola Gacesa (206-F-87) of Tabriz - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Ali Armen Allahverdi (197-F-95) of Azad - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Payam Kiani) of Chemidor - 14 points and 6 rebounds
9. Mohammadreza Rezaei (199-F-96) of Kashan - 7 points and 8 rebounds
10. Masoud Soleimani (207-C) of Kashan - 12 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
