The most exciting game of round 4 in the Superleague took place in Tabriz. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th ranked Tabriz (0-2) to first ranked Naft Abadan (3-1) 110-108 on Monday evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Tabriz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Ivorian guard Doron Perkins (189-83, college: Santa Clara) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 35 points (!!!). A Taherkhani produced 28 points and 4 steals for lost side. Tabriz's coach Mehran Hatami rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naft Abadan maintains first position in Group 1 with 3-1 record, which they share with Petrochimi. Tabriz at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Naft Abadan is looking forward to face Arak (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tabriz will play against Shiraz a.s Pipe and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Important game to mention about took place in Tehran. First ranked Petrochimi (3-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Chemidor (1-2) 89-86 on Monday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 7 rebounds. James White contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Petrochimi's coach Mehran Shahintab allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for Chemidor. Defending champion maintains first position in Group 2 with 3-1 record, which they share with Naft Abadan. Chemidor at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Petrochimi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chemidor will play again on the road against the league's leader Petrochimi (#1) in Bandar Imam to get more than just one victory in their record.
Bottom-ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 55-51 loss to third ranked Kashan (2-1) in Gorgan on Monday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Kashan moved-up to second place in Group 1, which they share with Arak. Loser Shahrdari Gorgan still closes the standings with three games lost. Kashan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shahrdari Gorgan will play again against the league's second-placed Kashan (#2) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Yakhchali and Iran are focused and ready for FIBA Asia Cup - 10 hours ago
TEHRAN (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Behnam Yakhchali (196-SG-95) is expected to be one of the big stars for Iran in the coming FIBA Asia Cup 2017, and that does not seem to faze the young man one bit. At just 21 years of age, the 1.95m wingman is already projected to be Iran's ace for the foreseeable future, and though that may place undue pressure on others, Yakhchali seems to have embraced it. He debuted for Team Melli's senior team as a wide-eyed 19-year-old back in 2014, already impressing...   [read more]
Niktash - 'It's an unbelievable feeling' to play for Iran - 7 days ago
DALIAN (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Navid Niktash raised plenty of eyebrows this season while playing for the British Basketball League's London Lions and now he'll be looking to do the same for Iran's national team. The 26-year-old, a sweet-shooting 6ft 8in (2.03m) small forward, was recently named in Iran's traveling squad for a three-game tour of China. If Niktash, a French-born Iranian, has the sort of eyebrow-raising moments that were common for him this season in the United Kingdom, the...   [read more]
