American Point guard Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Petrochimi, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, four rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass, Second Stage bottom-ranked team Gorgan (#5, 0-2) with 30-point margin 98-68. It allowed Petrochimi to take over top position in the Iranian Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this stage. Petrochimi has a very solid 2-1 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Robinson had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Petrochimi's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Georgia star has very solid stats this year. Robinson is in league's top in points (4th best: 20.4ppg), assists (3rd best: 4.5apg) and averages impressive 59.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old British Ryan Richards (212-C/F-91, agency: Three Eye Sports) of Group 2 leader Naft Abadan. Richards had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Naft Abadan to another comfortable win outscoring Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-1) 100-80. The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Richards is a newcomer at Naft Abadan, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international Reza Ranjbar of Shiraz a.s Pipe (#5). Ranjbar scored 25 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Ranjbar's great performance Shiraz a.s Pipe lost 80-100 to Naft Abadan (#1, 2-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Shiraz a.s Pipe can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group 2. They have awful Second Stage losing so far all 1 games. Too bad for Ranjbar he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Ranjbar has individually a great season in Iran. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (7th best). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 50.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-86) of Arak - 16 points and 15 rebounds
5. Doron Perkins (189-G-83) of Naft Abadan - 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Mozafari Rasoul (188-SG-94) of Azad - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Sasoon Abramian (208-F/C-87) of Gorgan - 16 points and 4 rebounds
8. Daniel Williams (195-G-87) of Arak - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-C/F-88) of Petrochimi - 12 points and 5 rebounds
10. Meisam Mirzaei (210-C-92) of Naft Abadan - 10 points and 6 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
