Gerald
Robinson
American Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Petrochimi and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage).
The 27-year old playmaker had the game-high 22 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Petrochimi in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, Second Stage bottom-ranked team Kashan (#5, 0-1) with 31-point margin 97-66. It allowed Petrochimi to jump to the first place in the Iranian Superleague. But it's just the very beginning of the Second Stage and Petrochimi won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Robinson turned to be Petrochimi's top player in his first season with the team. University of Georgia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Robinson is in league's top in points (4th best: 20.4ppg), assists (2nd best: 4.9apg) and averages solid 59.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old American forward Quinton Hosley (201-F-84) of second-ranked Arak. Hosley impressed basketball fans with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Arak cruised to a 91-80 relatively comfortable win over Tabriz (0-1). His team has extremely good start of the Second Stage. They won their first game. However the Second Stage is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Hosley is a newcomer at Arak and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.6ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 5.8rpg and 3.6apg.

The third best performed player last round was former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-SF-90) of Army (#4). Kazemi scored 15 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Kazemi's great performance Army lost 79-87 to #1 ranked Naft Abadan. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Army can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group 2. They have awful Second Stage losing so far all 1 games. Too bad for Kazemi he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Kazemi has individually a great season in Iran. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.4rpg (#1 in league). He also has 2.8spg and FGP: 56.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Javad Davari (185-G-83) of Chemidor - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Daniel Williams (195-G-87) of Arak - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Sajjad Mashayekhi (180-PG-94) of Naft Abadan - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Masoud Soleimani (207-C) of Kashan - 21 points and 8 rebounds
8. Meisam Mirzaei (210-C-92) of Naft Abadan - 17 points and 14 rebounds
9. Ali Armen Allahverdi (197-F-95) of Azad - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. James White (201-F/G-82) of Petrochimi - 8 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
