Gerald
Robinson
American Point guard Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Petrochimi, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, five rebounds and nine assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Gorgan (#9, 1-6) 85-81. It allowed Petrochimi to take over top position in the Iranian Superleague. Petrochimi have a solid 6-1 record. In the team's last game Robinson had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Petrochimi's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Georgia star has very solid stats this year. Robinson is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.1ppg), assists (2nd best: 5.1apg) and averages impressive 58.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old Croatian Zvonko Buljan (206-C-87) of Kashan. Buljan had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds. It was enough for Kashan to edge the higher-ranked Naft Abadan (#4, 5-2) 84-82. This victory allowed Kashan to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-4 record. Buljan is a newcomer at Kashan, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Croatian Filip Toncinic (212-C/F-84) of Gorgan (#9). Toncinic got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Toncinic's great performance Gorgan lost 81-85 to the higher-ranked Petrochimi (#1, 6-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Gorgan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Toncinic he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Toncinic has individually a great season in Iran. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Arsalan Kazemi (200-SF-90) of Army - 14 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Saeed Davarpanah (190-G/F-87) of Naft Abadan - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Quinton Hosley (201-F-84) of Arak - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Ivan Koljevic (187-PG-84) of Kashan - 24 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Joseph Jones (206-C/F-86) of Azad - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Erfan Nasajpour (177-PG-84) of Tabriz - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Mahdi Moradinasab (202-C-92) of Gorgan - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
