The League Standings for the playoffs are taking shape as the regular season nears it's end. Shardari Gorgan, Al Badr Kong, and Sanaye Petro have boasted some key victories recently and will most likely round out the final playoff spots.

The most astounding games of late have come from Sanaye Petro. With Sanaye Petro's two surprising overtime wins it's looks as though this team just stamped their ticket to the playoffs.

Their first overtime victory came over the injury stricken Azad University team in Tehran. Coming back from an 8 point deficit in the final minutes, Sanaye forced an overtime and barely clinched the 1 point victory in the final seconds: 75-76.

Their last game was against Esteghlal Geshm at home. In a must win game for both teams, Sanaye Petro came from behind again and only had the lead for a recorded :05 (5 seconds of the game). The final score was 76-74.

Key performances in the game: Sanaye Petro's Yonas Lalehzadeh knotched 36 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and to push the game into overtime, Vahid Boroojerdi (88) hit his first 3pointer of the season with 3 seconds left in regulation. For Estghlal Geshm, Mehrad Atashi (191-G-86) had 14 points and Sergo Atuashvili pulled down a remarkable 17 rebounds and 9 points.

If the playoffs started today the 8 teams advancing would be: ~Petrochimi
-Foolad Mahan Esfahan
-Mahram
-Zanjan
-Azad University
-Gorgan
-Sanaye Petro
-Al Badr

Yakhchali and Iran target revenge against Iraq in second window - 4 days ago
TEHRAN (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - Behnam Yakhchali was not around when Iran lost to Iraq in the first window of the Asian Qualifiers, but he's just as pumped to get some payback. Yakhchali remembers watching that game from home, unable to play as he was sidelined by an injury. "In the first window, I got hurt before the team traveled to Jordan," he said. "But hopefully, in this window, I'll play for the national team and help them in every way I can." The 6ft 3i...   [read more]
