The League Standings for the playoffs are taking shape as the regular season nears it's end. Shardari Gorgan, Al Badr Kong, and Sanaye Petro have boasted some key victories recently and will most likely round out the final playoff spots.

The most astounding games of late have come from Sanaye Petro. With Sanaye Petro's two surprising overtime wins it's looks as though this team just stamped their ticket to the playoffs.

Their first overtime victory came over the injury stricken Azad University team in Tehran. Coming back from an 8 point deficit in the final minutes, Sanaye forced an overtime and barely clinched the 1 point victory in the final seconds: 75-76.

Their last game was against Esteghlal Geshm at home. In a must win game for both teams, Sanaye Petro came from behind again and only had the lead for a recorded :05 (5 seconds of the game). The final score was 76-74.

Key performances in the game: Sanaye Petro's Yonas Lalehzadeh knotched 36 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and to push the game into overtime, Vahid Boroojerdi (88) hit his first 3pointer of the season with 3 seconds left in regulation. For Estghlal Geshm, Mehrad Atashi (191-G-86) had 14 points and Sergo Atuashvili pulled down a remarkable 17 rebounds and 9 points.

If the playoffs started today the 8 teams advancing would be: ~Petrochimi
-Foolad Mahan Esfahan
-Mahram
-Zanjan
-Azad University
-Gorgan
-Sanaye Petro
-Al Badr

Yonas Lalehzadeh (195-G-89, college: Cal-Irvine), Vahid Boroojerdi (88),

Yakhchali and Iran are focused and ready for FIBA Asia Cup - 22 hours ago
TEHRAN (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Behnam Yakhchali (196-SG-95) is expected to be one of the big stars for Iran in the coming FIBA Asia Cup 2017, and that does not seem to faze the young man one bit. At just 21 years of age, the 1.95m wingman is already projected to be Iran's ace for the foreseeable future, and though that may place undue pressure on others, Yakhchali seems to have embraced it. He debuted for Team Melli's senior team as a wide-eyed 19-year-old back in 2014, already impressing...   [read more]
Niktash - 'It's an unbelievable feeling' to play for Iran - 8 days ago
DALIAN (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - Navid Niktash raised plenty of eyebrows this season while playing for the British Basketball League's London Lions and now he'll be looking to do the same for Iran's national team. The 26-year-old, a sweet-shooting 6ft 8in (2.03m) small forward, was recently named in Iran's traveling squad for a three-game tour of China. If Niktash, a French-born Iranian, has the sort of eyebrow-raising moments that were common for him this season in the United Kingdom, the...   [read more]

China revenges Iran in Basketball friendly - 9 days ago
Abdusalam's three-pointer with 55 seconds to the end of the match helped Team Red of Chinese Men's basketball team to beat Iran 72-67 here on Friday and revenged their Tuesday's 60-63 loss. The host, who trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half, outscored their Asian rival 30-17 in the final quarter to turn the table over. Abdusalam, who scored a team-high 13 points in Tuesday's match, took all his nine points in the final period, while Zhao JiWei (185-PG-95) and Rui Zhao (193-F-...   [read more]
