Mahram registered the second victory at the start of Asia Club Championship. The Iranian team rallied past Duhok to stay undefeated at 2-0 record. Ratko Varda (215-C/F-79, agency: Beo Basket) and Samad Nik Khahbahrami (199-F-83) finished with 18 points each to lead the winners.
Iran poured in 29 points in the opening quarter to ensure a 17-point lead. They maintained the advantage throughout the second quarter. Mahram arrived at halftime up by as many as 19 points 50:31. Mahram totally dominated in the third frame. They built a 32-point advantage at the final intermission. Duhok managed just 13 points in the fourth frame as Mahram cruised to the victory. Mahdi Kamrani (186-PG-82) netted 15 points and issued 6 assists for the winners. Antonio Webb (178-G-84, college: Beth.-Cookman) answered with 11 points for Duhok. Ali Ismael (200-PF-94) chipped in 10 points for the Iraqi team.

The Second Stage in Superleague just started. The biggest surprise of round 1 in Superleague took place in Abadan where host Naft Abadan (1-0) beat Army (0-1) 87-79 on Thursday evening. Army trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 38-26 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-87 at the end of the game. Naft Abadan forced 20 Army turnovers. Shahrdary Tabriz (Superleague) agreed terms with 33-year old guard Marko Popovic (193-84, agency: Stealth Sport). He is a dual citizen owning also Bosnia and Herzegovina passport. Popovic played last season at Start Lublin in Polish PLK league. In 16 games he had 7.4ppg, 1.5rpg, 3.6apg and 1.0spg. Limoges CSP Elite (ProA) signed 31-year old American power forward Joseph Jones (206-111kg-86, college: Texas A&M). He started the season at Azad in Iranian Superleague. In 17 games he had very impressive stats: 15.2ppg, 7.2rpg, 1.8apg and 1.7spg this season.
