Iran posted the third win at the WABA Championship in Amman. They knocked down Syria to gain 3-1 record. Iran will now take on Jordan for the one remaining qualifying spot at the Fiba Asia Championship in Tokyo. Saeid Davarpanah (191-G/F-87) came up with 15 points to lead Iran in this one. They held Syria to 10 points in the first quarter to take a 5-point lead. Iran maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They ensured a 31:24 halftime lead. Iran kept their opponents at bay throughout the third quarter. They rallied to a 53:36 advantage with one quarter remaining. Iran dominated the final period holding Syria to 8 points and marching to a well-deserved win at the end. Samad Nik Khahbahrami (198-F-83) and Mohammad Hassanzadeh (201-F-90) delivered 12 points each for the winners. Michel Maadanly (194-G-81) proved his topscoring status chipping 25 points for Syria. Hakam Abdullah (198-F-82) added 6 points in the defeat.

We asked about his summer schedule and if he would return for National Team. He responded " it is an honor to be able to play with National Team. I respect and love the Coach, Players, and the Federation very much- they are like family... I have some workouts with the NBA DLeague teams coming up and I do not know the National Team schedule. Hopefully I can do both."
Lalehzadeh is the first National Team member born outside the country. Averaging over 20ppg this past season, Lalehzadeh helped the National Team win the West Asia Country Championship.

Foolad Mahad and Petrochimi post two victories at the start of the 14th WABA Champions Cup. The Iranian teams are with 2-1 record after three games played.
In Day 1 Foolad Mahad overcame Champville 84:83. Both teams scored 12 points each in the first period, while Foolad Mahad took 1-point advantage at the halftime due to 24-23 rally in the second frame. On May 14th Foolad Mahan outscorted Duhok 95:89 and today Petroshemi won over Duhok 89:80.
