The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Satria Muda (9-1) in Jakarta on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked JNE BSC (4-7) 58-53. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Satria Muda. Satria Muda trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 19-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 53-58 at the end of the game. JNE BSC held Satria Muda to an opponent 22.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.0 percent accuracy of the winners. JNE BSC forced 20 Satria Muda turnovers and had a 35-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when JNE BSC made 10 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Chris Brand (208-90, college: Lincoln, PA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks and point guard Raheem Singleton (182-89, college: Maine) who added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Carlos Smith (206-90, college: Bowie St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. JNE BSC maintains ninth position with 4-7 record. Satria Muda at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. JNE BSC are looking forward to face higher ranked Pelita Jaya (#3) in Jakarta in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Satria Muda will play on the road against the league's leader CLS Knights having rather not much hope for a victory.
Satya Wacana has finally registered their first victory this season after 12 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Bima Perkasa (1-10) 71-57. Even a double-double of 22 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals by American point guard Tyrell Corbin (184-92, college: CSU Bakersfield) did not help to save the game for Bima Perkasa. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satya Wacana maintains eleventh position with 1-12 record. It was Bima Perkasa's ninth loss in a row. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. Satya Wacana will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
