Andre Smith
American Center Andre Smith (208-C) had an amazing evening in the last round for Hang Tuah, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The player had a double-double of 29 points and 18 rebounds, while his team beat Satya Wacana (#11, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 81-71. Hang Tuah is placed at 4th position in Indonesian IBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Hang Tuah will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Smith turned to be Hang Tuah's top player in his first season with the team. Former William Jessup University star has very solid stats this year. Smith is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.3ppg and leads league in rebounds with 18.0rpg. Smith is in league's top in assists (8th best: 0.5apg) and averages impressive 53.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old American David Seagers (188-G-88) of Pacific Caesar. Seagers had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Pacific Caesar was edged by the higher-ranked Aspac (#1, 4-1) 80-76. This loss caused Pacific Caesar to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 3-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Seagers is a newcomer at Pacific Caesar, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Jarron Crump (183-PG-92) of Satya Wacana (#11). Crump got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and five assists. Despite Crump's great performance Satya Wacana lost 71-81 to the higher-ranked Hang Tuah (#4, 3-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Satya Wacana can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Too bad for Crump he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Crump has individually a great season in Indonesia. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kevin Loiselle (198-F-88) of Pacific Caesar - 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Chris Brand (208-F-90) of JNE BSC - 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Nate Barfield (206-F/C-88) of NSH GMC - 24 points and 18 rebounds
7. Firman Nugroho (201-C-90) of CLS Knights - 12 points and 10 rebounds
8. Dechriston McKinney (203-F-92) of CLS Knights - 15 points and 7 rebounds
9. Anthony Hangrove (200-C-89) of Aspac - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Ferdinand Damanik (196-C-88) of JNE BSC - 21 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

CLS Knights Ride in Shining Armor to Bring ABL Glory back to Indonesia - 22 days ago
After a two season hiatus from the ASEAN Basketball League, Indonesia is ready to return with CLS Knights Surabaya leading the charge. The last time Indonesia fielded a team in the ABL was back in 2014 with two teams: the Indonesia Warriors and Laskar Dreya South Sumatra. Both sides failed to make the playoffs and the ABL hasn't had a club from Indonesia since. Now Indonesia is back, represented by the proud CLS Knights Surabaya   [read more]

SEA Games: Indonesia come from behind to beat Singapore 70-54 - 2 months ago
They came into the game high on confidence. And for most part of the game, they stayed on top. But 12 missed free throws and an inability to execute plays properly down the stretch cost the Singapore national basketball dearly, leading them to a 54-70 defeat by Indonesia and dropping the side to a 2-1 record. A win would have seen them secure a spot in the semi-finals and also avoid powerhouse Philippines in the knockout stage. The match was also a repeat of the semi-finals in the 2015 SE...   [read more]
