The most exciting game of round 5 in the IBL took place in Surabaya. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Garuda (2-2) to third ranked CLS Knights (3-1) 72-69 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-69. The former international point guard Mario Wuysang (176-79) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 assists for the winners and American forward Dechriston McKinney (203-92, college: Arkansas Tech) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. CLS Knights' coach used entire bench in such tough game. American center Chris Ware (203-89, college: Indiana Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Aspac. Garuda at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with NSH GMC. CLS Knights is looking forward to face Bima Perkasa (#8) in Sakti in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Garuda will have a break next round.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked NSH GMC (2-2) against seventh ranked Hang Tuah (2-1) on Sunday night. Host NSH GMC was defeated by Hang Tuah in a tough game in Jakarta 73-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NSH GMC. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard JaJuan Smith (188-85, college: Tennessee) nailed 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Andre Smith accounted for 12 points and 21 rebounds. Power forward Nate Barfield (206-88, college: Langston) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 21 rebounds for NSH GMC in the defeat. NSH GMC's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Hang Tuah moved-up to fifth place. NSH GMC at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Garuda. Hang Tuah will play against bottom-ranked Satya Wacana (#11) in Salatiga in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. NSH GMC will play at home against JNE BSC (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Pacific Caesar moved-up to fourth place. Loser JNE BSC still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Satya Wacana. Pacific Caesar will meet at home league's second-placed Aspac in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JNE BSC will play against NSH GMC (#7) in Jakarta and hopes to get finally their first victory.

NSH GMC - Hang Tuah 73-81

Very important is a home loss of second ranked NSH GMC (2-2) against seventh ranked Hang Tuah (2-1) on Sunday night. Host NSH GMC was defeated by Hang Tuah in a tough game in Jakarta 73-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NSH GMC. Americans were the main players on the court. A very interesting game took place in Jakarta. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Pelita Jaya (1-3) to fifth ranked Aspac (3-1) 68-65 on Sunday evening. Pelita Jaya was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 18-10 third quarter run of Aspac. Abraham-Damar Grahita (201-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Andakara Prastawa Dhyaksa (173-92) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American-Jamaican forward Kore White (205-89, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Winston Grays (188-96, college: JMU, agency: SDJ Sports) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Pelita Jaya. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aspac moved-up to second place, which they share with CLS Knights. Pelita Jaya at the other side keeps the ninth position with three games lost. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Pacific Caesar moved-up to fourth place. Pacific Caesar - Aspac 77-108 Aspac coasted past Pacific Caesar to sweep the semifinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Aspac. Pacific Caesar managed to win fourth quarter 20-18. Aspac - Pacific Caesar 96-73 Aspac coastd past Pacific Caesar to take 1-0 lead in the series. It looked good early as Pacific Caesar took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aspac had a 39-24 second period charge getting the lead and Pacific Caesar was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-96.
