JaJuan Smith
American Guard JaJuan Smith (188-G-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Hang Tuah, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (42 points, nine rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Garuda (1-1) 94-91. Hang Tuah is placed at 6th position in Indonesian IBL. Hang Tuah is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got nine three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Hang Tuah's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Tennessee star has very solid stats this year. Smith is league's best scorer averaging so far 42.0ppg and leads league in rebounds with 9.0rpg. Smith is in league's top in assists (9th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 55.6% FGP and 75.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Tyrell Corbin (184-PG-92) of Bima Perkasa. Corbin had a very good evening with 33 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Bima Perkasa cruised to a 85-73 relatively comfortable win over JNE BSC (0-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Corbin is a newcomer at Bima Perkasa, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.0ppg (#5). He also registered 5.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Hang Tuah's star - American forward Andre Smith (208-C, college: William Jessup). Smith scored 24 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Hang Tuah, helping his team with a 94-91 win against Garuda (1-1). Hang Tuah needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victories and 1 lost game. The season just started for Smith as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be another team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jamine Peterson (201-F-88) of Bima Perkasa - 33 points and 10 rebounds
5. Kore White (205-F-89) of Pelita Jaya - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
6. David Seagers (188-G-88) of Pacific Caesar - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Carlos Smith (206-F-90) of Satria Muda - 16 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Chris Brand (208-F-90) of JNE BSC - 14 points and 13 rebounds
9. Dechriston McKinney (203-F-92) of CLS Knights - 10 points and 18 rebounds
10. Tyreek Jewell (185-G-93) of Satria Muda - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

CLS Knights Ride in Shining Armor to Bring ABL Glory back to Indonesia - 22 days ago
After a two season hiatus from the ASEAN Basketball League, Indonesia is ready to return with CLS Knights Surabaya leading the charge. The last time Indonesia fielded a team in the ABL was back in 2014 with two teams: the Indonesia Warriors and Laskar Dreya South Sumatra. Both sides failed to make the playoffs and the ABL hasn't had a club from Indonesia since. Now Indonesia is back, represented by the proud CLS Knights Surabaya   [read more]

SEA Games: Indonesia come from behind to beat Singapore 70-54 - 2 months ago
They came into the game high on confidence. And for most part of the game, they stayed on top. But 12 missed free throws and an inability to execute plays properly down the stretch cost the Singapore national basketball dearly, leading them to a 54-70 defeat by Indonesia and dropping the side to a 2-1 record. A win would have seen them secure a spot in the semi-finals and also avoid powerhouse Philippines in the knockout stage. The match was also a repeat of the semi-finals in the 2015 SE...   [read more]
