NBL Round 11: Garuda defeats Bimasakti in the closest game of the week - Jan 13, 2013

The most exciting game of round 11 in the NBL took place in Bandung. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Bimasakti (2-4) to fifth ranked Garuda (4-3) 46-43 on Sunday evening. Garuda outrebounded Bimasakti 40-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Wendha Wijaya (181-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Fadlan Minallah (185-82) helped adding 11 points and 5 rebounds. Bima Rizky Ardiansyah (182-90) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Garuda maintains fifth place with 4-3 record. Bimasakti lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Garuda are looking forward to face Satya Wacana (#10) in Salatiga in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bimasakti will play at home against Stadium Jakarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked CLS Knights (6-2) against seventh ranked Satria Muda (3-3) on Sunday night. Visiting CLS Knights were crushed by Satria Muda in Jakarta 76-46. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CLS Knights. It was an exceptional evening for Frida Susanto (195-86) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Rony Gunawan accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds. Rachmad Utomo (180-85) came up with 15 points for CLS Knights in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Satria Muda moved-up to sixth place. CLS Knights at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. Satria Muda will play against Pacific Caesar (#7) in Surabaya in the next round. CLS Knights will have a break next round.
NBL top team - Dell Aspac (7-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Tonga BSC (1-7) in Jakarta 75-48. The best player for the winners was Oki Wira Sanjaya who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Muhammad Hardian Wicaksono produced 9 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Dell Aspac have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Tonga BSC lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very interesting game took place in Riau. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked NSH GMC Riau (1-6) to ninth ranked Pacific Caesar (3-4) 71-70 on Sunday evening. Airlangga Sabara saved the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. NSH GMC Riau's coach Tri Adnyanaadi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pacific Caesar moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Stadium Jak. NSH GMC Riau at the other side keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Pacific Caesar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Satria Muda (#6) in Jakarta and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Satria Muda - CLS Knights 76-46

Very important is a road loss of second ranked CLS Knights (6-2) against seventh ranked Satria Muda (3-3) on Sunday night. Visiting CLS Knights were crushed by Satria Muda in Jakarta 76-46. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CLS Knights. The game was mostly controlled by Satria Muda. CLS Knights was better in fourth quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CLS Knights to just 5 points in third quarter. Satria Muda held CLS Knights to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Satria Muda forced 21 CLS Knights turnovers and outrebounded them 52-29 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Satria Muda brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Frida Susanto (195-86) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Rony Gunawan (194-80) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Satria Muda players scored in double figures. Rachmad Utomo (180-85) came up with 15 points and the former international power forward Dian Heryadi (194-80) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively for CLS Knights in the defeat. The best player for the winners was guard Oki Wira Sanjaya (190-89) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Andakara Prastawa Dhyaksa (177-92) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Aspac - Pacific Caesar 96-73 Aspac coastd past Pacific Caesar to take 1-0 lead in the series. It looked good early as Pacific Caesar took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aspac had a 39-24 second period charge getting the lead and Pacific Caesar was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-96.
