NBL Round 9: Dell Aspac improved to 5-0 record - Dec 8, 2012

NBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Dell Aspac as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Dell Aspac smashed 4th placed Garuda in Jakarta 74-35. Dell Aspac held Garuda to an opponent 18.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Dell Aspac forced 20 Garuda turnovers. It was a good game for forward Pringgo Regowo (190-87) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Guard Andakara Prastawa Dhyaksa (177-92) contributed with 13 points for the winners. The former international point guard Wendha Wijaya (181-82) answered with 5 points and 7 rebounds for Garuda. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Dell Aspac (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Pelita Jaya. Garuda at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Garuda will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Dell Aspac will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Pelita Jaya. It will be extra interesting game as Pelita Jaya is their local rival from Jakarta.
NSH GMC Riau's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Jakarta, where they defeated Tonga BSC (1-5) 62-49. Forward Juliano Sucipto (188-82) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Yunus Efendi chipped in 9 points. The best for the losing side was Muhammad Hardian Wicaksono (189-93) with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NSH GMC Riau (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place. Tonga BSC at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. NSH GMC Riau will play against higher ranked Hangtuah (#4) in Pandang in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tonga BSC will play on the road against CLS Knights (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
The game in Jakarta was also quite interesting. Third ranked CLS Knights (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Stadium Jakarta (2-4). CLS Knights defeated Stadium Jakarta 66-52 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Stadium Jakarta. Rachmad Utomo nailed 19 points for the winning side. Indra Budianto came up with 20 points for Stadium Jakarta in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CLS Knights maintains third place with 5-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Dell Aspac. Loser Stadium Jakarta dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Satya Wacana and Pacific Caesar. CLS Knights will meet at home bottom-ranked Tonga BSC (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stadium Jakarta will play against Satya Wacana (#10) in Salatiga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Pacific Caesar will have a break next round.

Satya Wacana - Pacific Caesar 57-60

A very interesting game took place in Salatiga. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked Satya Wacana (2-4) to eleventh ranked Pacific Caesar (2-4) 60-57 in the fight for the eighth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Satya Wacana won fourth quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Airlangga Sabara (190-85) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Charlie Indra chipped in 5 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was center Firman Nugroho (201-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Budi Sucipto (169-88) added 11 points and 4 steals respectively. Pacific Caesar moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Satya Wacana and Stadium Jak. Pacific Caesar will have a break next round.

Pacific Caesar - Aspac 77-108 Aspac coasted past Pacific Caesar to sweep the semifinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Aspac. Pacific Caesar managed to win fourth quarter 20-18. Aspac - Pacific Caesar 96-73 Aspac coastd past Pacific Caesar to take 1-0 lead in the series. It looked good early as Pacific Caesar took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter.
