23-year old guard Pierre Newton (196-G-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Pune P. and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
He had the game-high 41 points adding eight rebounds and seven assists for Pune P. in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Hydrabad S. (#3, 3-3) 106-102. It allowed Pune P. to consolidate first place in the Indian league. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Pune P. has a very solid 4-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Newton had a remarkable 57.9% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Pune P., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Minnesota - Duluth graduate has very impressive stats this year. Newton is in league's top in points (7th best: 27.5ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 9.5rpg), assists (7th best: 6.0apg) and averages solid 54.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Tevin Kelly of Hydrabad S.. He is American in his first season at Hydrabad S.. In the last game Kelly recorded impressive double-double of 45 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as Hydrabad S. was edged by slightly higher-ranked Pune P. (#1, 4-2) 106-102. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in South. Hydrabad S. still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Kelly is one of the most experienced players at Hydrabad S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 39.5ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 7.5rpg and 7.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to Palpreet Brar of league's second-best Bengaluru. Brar got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds . He was a key player of Bengaluru, leading his team to a 100-86 easy win against #4 ranked Chennai S.. Bengaluru needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in South. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Brar has a great season in India. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.7rpg (5th best). He also has 2.7bpg and FGP: 68.1%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Narender Grewal) of Pune P. - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Agu Chukwunanu) of Chennai S. - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists
6. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (192-G-91) of Bengaluru - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 16 assists
7. Mak Boskailo (206-F) of Hydrabad S. - 11 points and 14 rebounds

10. Visu Palani) of Bengaluru - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
