Second round action of the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 began earlier today at the Twelve Thousand People Sport Hall, Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran, Iran. The Indian men's team took on Group A's Jordan in the second round, after carrying forward its 1-1 record from the preliminary round.

India led early 5-4, before Jordan went on a 15-4 run followed by another 22-2 run to take a 20 point lead at the end of the first quarter. Jordan continued to control the rest of the game to close out the big win. Key to Jordan's scoring were its 18 made three pointers by multiple players.

For India, captain Amritpal Singh recorded his second straight double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, with forward Amjyot Singh and guard Talwinderjit 'TJ' Sahi contributing in double digits as well.

India next faces Group A topper China at 1 pm IST tomorrow (13th September), followed by Group A's third placed team Kazakhstan, for a spot in the top 8.

Thanks to its first round victory over Philippines, India currently occupies 4th spot in second round's Group E, with the top 4 teams from Group E and Group F progressing to the quarterfinals.
