Josh Boone
Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions (D1) inked 33-year old American power forward Josh Boone (208-108kg-84, college: Connecticut). He played recently at United in Australian NBL league. In 12 games he averaged 10.1ppg, 9.3rpg and 1.1bpg this season. Boone also spent pre-season at Pinar Karsiyaka in Turkish BSL earlier that year where in only one NBL game he had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
In 2006 he was drafted by New Jersey Nets (NBA) in first round (23rd overall). Boone attended University of Connecticut and it is his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements he received Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention award back in 2011.
Boone is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to seven different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). Boone has played previously professionally in Bahrain (Al Manama), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), Philippines (B.Ginebra and SM Beermen), Russia (Khimky), NBA (Brooklyn Nets), China (Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank) and D-League (Iowa Energy).
His game is described as: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2006)
Has a great attitude, plays hard, wants to improve ... Strong defensively ... Explosive leaper, with good timing and instincts on blocked shots ... Giant wingspan gives him added size ... Fights hard for rebounds, hustles for loose balls ... Big strong hands, when he gets his hands on a rebound it's his ...
Needs to develop better offensive post moves ... Must develop a consistent mid range jump shot ..
