LUIS SCOLA

Shanghai Sharks (CBA) landed experienced 38-year old Argentinian international power forward Luis Scola (206-104kg-80). Scola played most recently at Shanxi Brave Dragons. In 37 CBA games in China he averaged impressive 27.8ppg, 13.8rpg, 3.4apg and 1.4spg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention.
The previous (16-17) season Scola played at the Nets in NBA where in 36 games he had 5.1ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.0apg.
In 2002 San Antonio Spurs selected him as 0th overall pick in NBA draft.
Among other achievements he received Latinbasket.com All-Marchand Cup 1st Team award back in 2015.
He has a double citizenship as he also holds Spanish passport.
Scola has been also a member of Argentinian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Argentinian senior team since 1999 and previously for U21 National Team between 2000 and 2001.
Scola also represented Argentina at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) two years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 14.8ppg, Reb-3 (8.0rpg), 1.8apg, FGP: 55.6%, 3PT: 47.1%, FT: 52.6%.
Scola has played previously professionally in Spain (Baskonia and Gijon) and NBA (Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers).
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Sharks.
Let's have closer look into Scola's outlook: Very versatile player. Can do everything, shooting from 5-6 metres, penetrating, dunking or his best play: dribbling and scoring in front of his opponent. True power player that can rebound when he wants to, use his strength to get position and score not only by his moves, but by his strength. Not bad of an athlete either and has the ability to run the floor. Doesnt have great range, but he does shoot it a little way from the basket.
