The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The biggest surprise took place in Henan where host Henan (7-2) beat league's leader Guizhou (6-3) 110-104 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Guizhou. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Guizhou trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 33-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 104-110 at the end of the game. Henan had a 40-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Guizhou helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 22 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 27 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) who recorded a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Guizhou's coach Guodong Zhang rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Henan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Guizhou at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Henan. Guizhou will play next round against Luoyang trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Henan will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Fujian in Fuzhou.
Another exciting game was between fifth ranked Hunan and 4th placed Guangxi where Hunan (6-3) beat Guangxi (5-4) on the road 108-95. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It was a good game for American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-88, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Arinze Onuaku contributed with 20 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. American guard Kevin Murphy (196-90, college: Tenn Tech) answered with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for Guangxi. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hunan moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Guangxi at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Hunan will play against Lhasa (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangxi will play against Beijing (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-74 loss to ninth ranked Chongqing (5-4) in Nanjin on Friday evening. Yuanbo Zhu stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Tujun Shen with 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chongqing have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Dongbu still closes the standings with nine games lost. Chongqing will meet Anhui (#7) on the road in the next round. Dongbu will play against the league's second-placed Shaanxi W. (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Hebei X. (#12) forced the game against Fujian (#6) into an overtime, but lost by six points 120-126. The game took place in Hebei. But the guests from Fuzhou were better at the end. LaQuinton Ross nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 24 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Fujian (6-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hebei X. at the other side keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Fujian's next round opponent will be league's leader Henan at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hebei X. will play against Jiangsu L. (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Beijing, where higher ranked Anhui (5-4) lost to eleventh ranked Beijing (4-5) in a road game 107-122 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Anhui. The best player for the winners was Michael Holyfield who had a double-double by scoring 53 points (!!!), 28 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 22-of-26 shooting from the field). Beijing's coach ShuMin Gao used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Beijing moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Lhasa. Loser Anhui dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Beijing will face higher ranked Guangxi (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

In the last two games of round 9 Lhasa was defeated by Luoyang in a road game 114-109. Shaanxi W. smashed Jiangsu L. at home 114-92.

Dongbu - Chongqing 74-85

Bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-74 loss to ninth ranked Chongqing (5-4) in Nanjin on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Chongqing. Dongbu managed to win fourth quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Dongbu 47-31 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Yuanbo Zhu stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and Ukrainian center Vladyslav Koreniuk (210-94, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was point guard Tujun Shen (185-92) with 18 points and forward QinShuo Deng (205-92) scored 11 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chongqing have a solid series of three victories in a row. Luoyang - Lhasa 114-109

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Luoyang and 8th ranked Lhasa had identical 4-4 record. This time Luoyang used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Lhasa 114-109 on Friday night. Lhasa trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 38-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 109-114 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Lhasa 56-44 including 20 on the offensive glass. Luoyang looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Lhasa's players. Lhasa was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who had a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 8 assists. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 20-14.
