Chris
Johnson
Anhui Wenyi (NBL) added to their roster 32-year old American power forward Chris Johnson (210-107kg-85, college: LSU). He played last summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league, but left the team in April. In 29 games he recorded 9.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.0bpg. The last season Johnson was tested by the Cavaliers in NBA.
In 2010 (a year after he left the college) Johnson was drafted by Dakota Wizards (D-League) in first round (9th overall).
He attended Louisiana State University until 2009 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Johnson's team made it to the Polish Cup final in 2010. He was also voted USBasket.com All-D-League Defensive Player of the Year back in 2011.
Johnson is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in six different countries. Johnson has played previously professionally in Dominican Rep., Turkey (Turk Telekom), NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves), Poland (Poznan PBG Basket and PGE Turow), China (Golden Bulls, Long Lions and Zhejiang Guangsha Lions) and D-League (Santa Cruz Warriors).
The scouts decsribe him following way: a truly gifted and unique physical specimen who at 6'11 is as mobile and explosive as most SFs. Great motor on every possession combined with his length and explosiveness make Chris a tremendous shot-blocker, rebounder and defender. Skilled offensive player who excels with space on pick and pop, face up, slashing and put back possessions. A game changer on both ends of the floor!.
