John Holland
Beijing Dongfang (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old Puerto Rican international swingman John Holland (195-93kg-88, college: Boston). He played recently at Canton Charge (D-League) in the U.S. In 39 games he recorded very impressive stats: 22.5ppg, 4.6rpg, 3.0apg and 1.6spg this season.
Holland has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
Among other achievements his college team won AEC Tournament in 2011. Holland received also Eurobasket.com EuroChallenge All-Imports Team award back in 2012.
He represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA Americas in Caracas (Venezuela) four years ago. Holland's team won Silver and his stats at that event were 10 games: 9.4ppg, 3.9rpg, FGP: 51.9%, 3PT: 24.1%, FT: 68.0%.
Holland is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America) in five different countries. Holland has played previously professionally in France (Gravelines Dunkerque and Chorale de Roanne), Spain (Sevilla), Turkey (Besiktas), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs) and Puerto Rico (Manati).
He attended Boston until 2011 and it is his sixth season in pro basketball.
The scouts decsribe him following way: A powerful swingman who shoots well from outside and has the driblling skills and the first pass to go inside to finish. Defense is not his preferred part of the game, but size and athleticism help him in getting the job done.
