Jones
Azad University Tehran (Superleague) inked 29-year old American guard Dominique Jones (193-98kg-88, college: S.Florida). He started the season at Qingdao Eagles in Chinese CBA league. In 38 games he averaged impressive 30.5ppg, 8.3rpg, 6.2apg and 1.6spg this season. The last season Jones played at Brave Dragons (also in CBA) where in 18 games he had very remarkable stats: 32.8ppg, 8.6rpg, 7.4apg (top 3) and 3.0spg (in top 3).
In 2010 he was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) in first round (25th overall). The former University of South Florida staris in his seventh season in pro basketball.
His team made it to the Puerto Rican Manuel Zeno Gandia Cup final in 2015.
Jones is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Jones has played previously professionally in NBA (Dallas Mavericks), China (Flying Leopards and Jilin Tigers), Puerto Rico (Manati) and D-League (Texas Legends and Springfield A.).
His game is described as: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2010)
Powerfully built combo guard with a polished offensive game ... An instant offense type of player who is capable of big scoring outbursts ... Has developed into a mature, polished guard with a good grasp of the game ... Strong leader who has gained a lot of confidence in his game and plays with a swagger. ot an overwhelmingly explosive athlete, but has the hops and strength to finish at the rim ... His lack of size lends to questions about his ability to create shots against longer and more athletic defenders
