Shanxi Zh. - Guangzhou 124-89

Thirteenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (15-22) crushed at home 19th ranked Guangzhou (8-29) by 35 points 124-89, which is the biggest margin this round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Guangzhou. Shanxi Zhongyu players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Guangzhou's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists. Haitian-Canadian center Samuel Dalembert (211-81, college: Seton Hall) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Iranian forward Mohammad-Samad Nikkhah-Bahrami (199-83) answered with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Zhun Zheng (214-92) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Guangzhou. Five Shanxi Zhongyu and four Guangzhou players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanxi Zhongyu maintains thirteenth place with 15-22 record. Guangzhou at the other side dropped to the eighteenth position with 29 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (#20) in Ningbo and are hoping to win another game. Guangzhou will play on the road against Guandong Tigers having rather not much hope for a victory.
