Von Wafer
American guard Von Wafer (196-G-85) had a great game in the last round for Xinjiang FT, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (41 points, four rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Liaoning H. (#7, 12-10) 119-109. Xinjiang FT maintains the 4th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Xinjiang FT will need more victories to improve their 14-9 record. In the team's last game Wafer had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Xinjiang FT's top player in his first season with the team. Von Wafer averages this season 26.7ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Mike Harris (198-F-83) of Jiangsu D.. Harris had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 22 rebounds. Of course he lead Jiangsu D. to another comfortable win 103-85 over the higher-ranked Bayi R. (#10, 11-12) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Jiangsu D. keeps 13th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-13 record. Harris is a newcomer at Jiangsu D., but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Donnell Harvey (203-F/C-80) of TianJin S. (#11). Harvey scored 27 points and grabbed twenty two rebounds (!!!). Despite Harvey's great performance TianJin S. lost 104-114 to the higher-ranked Shandong FB (#2, 16-7). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of TianJin S. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Harvey could help TianJin S. to bring them higher in the standings. Harvey has a great season in China. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 16.7rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Charles Gaines (201-F-81) of Shanxi Zh. - 31 points and 18 rebounds
5. Shavlik Randolph (208-F-83) of Foshan LL - 42 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Chris Daniels (211-C-84) of Qingdao E. - 30 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Jia Xien (198-F-89) of Shanxi Zh. - 28 points and 13 rebounds
8. ZhiZhi Wang (215-C-77) of Bayi R. - 31 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Marcus Haislip (208-F-80) of DongGuan L. - 35 points and 8 rebounds
10. D.J. White (206-F-86) of Shanghai S. - 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Randolph's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 1 day ago
34-year old forward Shavlik Randolph (208-F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Beikong FD and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. He had a double-double of 40 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out Sichuan BW (#19, 2-13) 100-99. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Beikong FD maintains the 11th position in Chinese league. Beikong FD is a typical solid league team pl...   [read more]

CBA Round 15: Flying Leopards keep a leadership position - 2 days ago
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory. The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Flying Leopards as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Flying Leopards defeated 17th ranked Jilin Tigers in Yingkou 116-108.
