The game between Top Four teams took place in Jinan. Third ranked host Shandong Bulls (15-7) defeated second-ranked Beijing Ducks (15-6) 109-92. The game was mostly controlled by Shandong Bulls. Beijing Ducks managed to win fourth quarter 39-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shandong Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Beijing Ducks' 28. They outrebounded Beijing Ducks 49-36 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shandong Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for center HanLin Tao (206-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) helped adding 19 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 26 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shandong Bulls have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-7 record having four points less than leader Guangdong ST. Beijing Ducks at the other side keep the second position with six games lost. Shandong Bulls are looking forward to face TianJin Steel (#9) in Tianjin in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Beijing Ducks will play on the road against Qingdao Eagles (#17) and are hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Qingdao Eagles managed to get the third consecutive victory. This time they edged fourth-ranked Liaoning Hunters in Yingkou 99-97. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Tracy McGrady (203-79) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Chris Daniels accounted for 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Qingdao Eagles' coach ZhengXiu Jiang allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) came up with 38 points (!!!) for Liaoning Hunters in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Qingdao Eagles. They maintain seventeenth place with 5-17 record. Liaoning Hunters at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Qingdao Eagles will play against league's second-placed Beijing Ducks at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liaoning Hunters will play against Xinjiang Flying Tige and will have a slim chance for a victory.
CBA top team - Guandong Tigers (19-3) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat tenth ranked DongGuan Leopards (10-11) in Dongguan 107-97. The best player for the winners was Jianlian Yi who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). Marcus Haislip produced 43 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the guests. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain first place with 19-3 record. Loser DongGuan Leopards dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Zhejiang CB and TianJin S.. Guandong Tigers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. DongGuan Leopards will play against Fujian (#14) in Jinjiang and hope to secure a win.
The game in Hangzhou supposed to be also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Bayi Rockets (11-11) played at the court of eighth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (12-10). Zhejiang Guangsha Lions smashed Bayi Rockets 113-73. Gary Forbes orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shanxi Zh. Bayi Rockets at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' next round opponent will be Shanghai Sharks (#16) at home and are hoping to win another game. Bayi Rockets will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#13) in Nanjing.
An interesting game took place in Jinjiang where higher ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (10-11) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Fujian (8-14) 130-114 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for Zhelin Wang who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fujian moved-up to fourteenth place. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Fujian will face higher ranked DongGuan Leopards (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Jilin NE T. lost to Xinjiang FT on the opponent's court 92-102. Foshan LL managed to outperform Jiangsu D. in a home game 118-110. Shanghai S. managed to beat Shanxi Zh. on the road 113-102.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 39 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by Charles Gaines of Shanxi Zh..



Xinjiang FT - Jilin NE T. 102-92

Very expected game in Urumqi where 15th ranked Jilin Tigers (7-15) were defeated by fifth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (13-9) 102-92 on Wednesday. Xinjiang Flying Tige outrebounded Jilin Tigers 51-26 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) helped adding 25 points and 9 rebounds. American-Liberian power forward Samuel Hoskin (206-79, college: De Paul, agency: Higher Vision Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and forward Cheng Zhong (206-89) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige and four Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Jilin Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to fourth place. Jilin Tigers lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face Liaoning Hunters (#5) in Yingkou in the next round. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu (#6) in Taiyuan.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Foshan's (10-12) home victory over 13th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (8-13) 118-110 on Wednesday. Jiangsu Dragons trailed by 16 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 31-22 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 110-118 at the end of the game. Foshan looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Jiangsu Dragons' players. Jiangsu Dragons were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Guard LingXu Zeng (193-87) helped adding 20 points and 10 assists.
