Free-agent guard Doron Perkins has penned a deal with the Foshan Long Lions of the Chinese League, the players' international representatives told Eurobasket.

Perkins, one of the top on-the-ball defenders in Europe, was cut by Ukrainian BC Donetsk late last month but has already completed his CBA debut recording 7 points, 9 assists and 3 rebounds over 30 minutes of action in Foshan's 108-101 road loss to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

Despite a number of European teams that have shown interest in picking up roughly half of the former Euroleague standout's guaranteed Donetsk contract ($65k monthly), including Israeli powerhouse Hapoel Jerusalem, Perkins decided to test unfamiliar waters in China.

Upon leaving the U.S., Perkins consulted former Maccabi Tel Aviv teammate and the Toronto Raptors' scoring swingman Alan Anderson (Agency: Priority Sports), who starred for Chinese Shandong Flaming Bulls during the 2011-12 season, averaging 25.5 points, 5.5 boards, 4 dimes and 2.1 steals per. In March 2012, Anderson played eight games for the D-League's Canton Charge before securing a pair of 10-days with the Raptors, who went on to sign the Minneapolis native for the remainder of the season and the current one.

Perkins, a 6-foot-2 seven-year player from Santa Clara University, started the season in Ukraine appearing in two Eurocup games, six VTB League games, and 14-Ukrainian Superleague games for Donetsk, averaging 11 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per contest.

Perkins and Foshan will continue their two-game CBA road trip on Friday, January 11th, against the Shanxi Zhongyu.
