Chinese CBA round 8 best performance: Randolph Morris - Dec 13, 2012

American power forward Randolph Morris (211-F/C-86) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Beijing Ducks, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 41 points and 16 rebounds, while his team edged out Xinjiang FT (#13, 3-5) 112-110. It allowed Beijing Ducks to take over top position in the Chinese CBA. Beijing Ducks have a solid 6-1 record. Morris has many years of experience at Beijing Ducks, through which he has constantly improved. Randolph Morris averages this season 22.1ppg and 9.4rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old American Will McDonald (211-C-79) of Fujian QB. McDonald had a very good evening with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Fujian QB was edged by the higher-ranked Guandong ST (#2, 6-1) 104-103. This loss caused Fujian QB to drop to 9th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. McDonald is a newcomer at Fujian QB, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward D.J. White (206-F-86) of Shanghai S. (#16). White scored 26 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite White's great performance Shanghai S. lost 92-106 to the higher-ranked Jiangsu D. (#12, 3-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Shanghai S. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for White he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. White has individually a great season in China. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.1rpg (5th best). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 60.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lester Hudson (191-G-84) of DongGuan L. - 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Peter John Ramos (222-C-85) of Guangsha L. - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Charles Gaines (201-F-81) of Shanxi Zh. - 28 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Tracy McGrady (203-G/F-79) of Qingdao E. - 33 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Marcus Williams (200-F/G-86) of Shanxi Zh. - 38 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Quincy Douby (191-G-84) of Zhejiang CB - 36 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Mike Harris (198-F-83) of Jiangsu D. - 33 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
