Mike Harris
29-year old forward Mike Harris (198-F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Jiangsu D. and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
He had a double-double of 41 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed Fujian QB (#6, 3-2) with 16-point margin 111-95. Jiangsu D. is placed at 14th position in Chinese league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 3 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Harris had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Jiangsu D.'s top player in his first season with the team. Rice University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Harris is in league's top in points (2nd best: 33.3ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 15.5rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg and 58.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was D.J. White (206-F-86) of Shanghai S.. He is American forward in his first season at Shanghai S.. In the last game White recorded impressive double-double of 34 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Shanghai S. to edge the higher-ranked Xinjiang FT (#1, 3-2) by 4 points 99-95. Despite this victory Shanghai S. slide down in the standings to 16th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. White is a newcomer at Shanghai S. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Peter John Ramos (222-C-85) of Guangsha L. (#11). Ramos got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for fifteen rebounds . He was a key player of Guangsha L., leading his team to a 111-98 easy win against Foshan LL (2-3). The chances of Guangsha L. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ramos could help Guangsha L. to bring them higher in the standings. Ramos has a great season in China. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.5rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Donnell Harvey (203-F/C-80) of TianJin S. - 26 points and 22 rebounds
5. Ike Diogu (204-F/C-83) of Guandong ST - 23 points and 19 rebounds
6. Stephon Marbury (188-G-77) of Beijing Ducks - 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Al Thornton (203-F-83) of Guangsha L. - 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Marcus Williams (200-F/G-86) of Shanxi Zh. - 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Quincy Douby (191-G-84) of Zhejiang CB - 28 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists
10. ZhengDong Tang (213-C-84) of Xinjiang FT - 25 points and 13 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

China, We have a problem! - 2 days ago

On Sunday July 24th 2016, Team China began their " Road to Rio 2016" at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, unfortunately for them, their "tune up" opponent was the ultra talented and superior Team USA. The beginning of the game displayed the difference in talent, when team USA raced out to 40-14 lead, with an array of jumpers, drives, and dunks, wowing the sold out crowd in Los Angeles while team China looked confused, slow and over matched, and unable to generate any offense, a...   [read more]
