There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of CBA and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The game had a very big importance for fourteenth-ranked Shanghai Sharks as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Shanghai Sharks defeated 4th placed Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi 99-95. The guests trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 31-30 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Xinjiang Flying Tige's 32. American forward D.J. White (206-86, college: Indiana) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). International point guard Wei Liu (190-80) contributed with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for Xinjiang Flying Tige. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Xinjiang Flying Tige at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with TianJin S. and Fujian QB. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play next round against Jilin Tigers trying to get back on the winning streak. Shanghai Sharks will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan.
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Beijing Ducks (3-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by TianJin Steel (3-2) 96-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-2 record before this meeting. American power forward Donnell Harvey (203-80, college: Florida) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 22 rebounds for the winners and GuiJun Xu chipped in 30 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 32 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. TianJin Steel keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Xinjiang FT and Fujian QB. Beijing Ducks at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. TianJin Steel will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Beijing Ducks will play at home against the league's second-placed Shandong Bulls (#2) in Jinan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: Fujian QB were beaten by Jiangsu D. on the road 111-95. Shandong FB won against Liaoning H. on its own court 117-101. Bayi R. unfortunately lost to Shanxi Zh. in Taiyuan 90-102. Guangsha L. managed to beat Foshan LL at home 111-98. Jilin NE T. defeated Qingdao E. on the opponent's court 95-84.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 41 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 blocks by Mike Harris of Jiangsu D..


Jiangsu D. - Fujian QB 111-95

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (1-3) beat higher ranked Fujian (3-2) in Nanjing 111-95 on Wednesday. Jiangsu Dragons dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Fujian's 22 and made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Jiangsu Dragons forced 22 Fujian turnovers. Fujian was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). His fellow American import center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta St.) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. International Zhelin Wang (215-94) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American center Will McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) added 25 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Fujian. Four Fujian players scored in double figures. Fujian's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Jiangsu Dragons left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place. Loser Fujian still keeps top position with two games lost. Jiangsu Dragons will face higher ranked Foshan (#13) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fujian will play against Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#8) in Hangzhou.

Very expected game when 6th ranked Liaoning Hunters (2-2) lost to leader Shandong Bulls (5-0) in Jinan 101-117 on Wednesday. Shandong Bulls shot 60.3 percent from the field. Shandong Bulls outrebounded Liaoning Hunters 44-26 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American point guard Pooh Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward JingYu Li (198-91) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. Shandong Bulls' coach XiaoBin Gong used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Dejun Han (215-89) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American forward Alexander Johnson (208-83, college: Florida St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Liaoning Hunters. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Shandong Bulls went down to second position due to points difference. Shanxi Zhongyu made 21-of-21 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Bayi Rockets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Acqua Vitasnella Cantu (Serie A) is close to add to their roster 31-year old American point guard Sebastian Telfair (183-77kg-85) who played last time at Xinjiang Flying Tigers in China. In 22 CBA games he recorded very impressive stats: 19.9ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.5apg and 1.4spg in 2014-15 season. Anhui Wenyi have won the Finals opener beating Guizhou 127-114 in Game 1. Trailing 29-33 at the end of the first period, Anhui posted a 33-25 sure in the second frame to take a 62-58 half-time advantage.
