Ike Diogu had a busy summer leading the nigerian national team at the Olympics in London. Waiting for a guaranteed contract in NBA, he only had the opportunity to make the training camp with the Suns before being cut. He decides to sign in China but is fully expecting to make a come back in NBA.

Why did you decide to sign with the Guangdong Tigers ?

Well I decided to sign with them because its a good team and they wanted me and I didn't wanna sit around and wait. Besides, Yi is on the team and so is Terrence Williams so that's 3 nba players on one team.

Did you receive some others offers from euroleague teams ?

yes I did receive some offers, many offers in fact but it just never happened.

You'll play with ex nba players such as Terrence Williams and Yi Jianlian, does it influence you to sign there ?

Yes it did influence me because we are all legit nba players who can play the game and we should all be in the nba right now so I think when we all have a good season we will be back next season.

You'll team up with Yi Jianlian in the paint, what do you think about this ? In your mind, you're the best inside combination of the chinese league ?

Yi is an unbelievable talent and I have been very impressed with him. He is a hard worker and he is really good. He makes my job easier and yes I believe we have the best tandem in the paint we both can go inside and out and rebound.

What can you say about your head coach Li Chunjuang ?

he is a great coach players coach he really tries to make you feel like your part of the family and his resume speaks for itself 7championships.

After a great run at the olympics, you've made the training camp with the Suns. Were you disappointed when you ve been cut ? Did you receive some other offers from nba teams ?

Yes I was very disapointed because everyone knew i deserved to not only be on the team but be playing i worked to hard not to get a fair shot but thats life i will be back in the nba because all who have seen me play know how talented I am and yes I had offers from chicago dallas and boston but I ended up choosing phoenix which looking back probably wasn't the best decision but still I definitively should have made the team

What's the goal for you personnaly this year ? Did you intend to try to come back in NBA after the CBA finishes ?

Yes I do intend to try to come back I'm only 29 and the future is bright for me in the nba. I have the best basketball ahead of me so i am excited about the chances I will have after china many players did this last season so I'm looking to do the same.
