Dragan Raca

The Cypriot-Serbian Head Coach Raca Dragan after his first three successful season in the Chinese league with the Guangzhou Free man where his team under his professional coaching qualified twice in the Finals and once in the Semi Finals has sign a new contract and will be the head coach of the renamed team Chongqing Flying Dragons (is actually the same management of the team but they moved to the major city in Southwest China and one of the five national central cities in the People's Republic of China (PRC), Chongqing. Administratively, it is one of the China's four direct-controlled municipalities (the other three are Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin), and the only such municipality in inland China. Chongqing is the largest direct-controlled municipality, and comprises 19 districts, 15 counties, and 4 autonomous counties.

The most successful Coach from Cyprus is among the very few non Chinese head coaches who is working for three consecutive seasons full of successes in the Chinese league and at the same time will be there for at least another three years. Most of the foreign head coaches can't "stay alive" for more than one or maybe two seasons as they simply can't survive within the Chinese Basketball culture and the way that the basketball is played in the country.

The new town basis of Head Coach Raca, has a population of 30 million people and the experienced head coach will team-up his roster with (mostly) local players from the surrounding areas whereas at the same time since the newly established team is the only basketball team in the city, Raca Dragan will have the chance to introduce the sport in an area so big as Chongqing town which is actually a county with a lot of prospective since is totally virgin and Raca will be the pioneer in the specific geographical area.

Chongqing has a significant history and culture and serves as the economic centre of the upstream Yangtze basin. It is the major manufacturing centre, and a transportation hub, for Southwest China, and in a July 2012 report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, was recently named as one of the 13 emerging megacities, or megalopolises, in China.

Eurobasket wishes all the best and many successes to the experienced Head Coach who is making Cyprus proud for his amazing and countless successes all these years in and out of the country.

CBA Round 16: No surprise as #1 Flying Leopards defeat Sharks - 16 minutes ago
CBA top team - Flying Leopards (13-3) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Sharks (7-9) in Shanghai 98-79. They outrebounded Sharks 50-39 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flying Leopards made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Brandon Bass (203-85, college: LSU, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who helped to win the game recor...   [read more]

Randolph's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 1 day ago
34-year old forward Shavlik Randolph (208-F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Beikong FD and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. He had a double-double of 40 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out Sichuan BW (#19, 2-13) 100-99. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Beikong FD maintains the 11th position in Chinese league. Beikong FD is a typical solid league team pl...   [read more]

CBA Round 15: Flying Leopards keep a leadership position - 2 days ago
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory. The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Flying Leopards as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Flying Leopards defeated 17th ranked Jilin Tigers in Yingkou 116-108. Flying Leopards made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Jilin Tiger...   [read more]
