    The 2012-13 Chinese basketball season officially kicked off, with defending champions Beijing romping over a new look Shanghai Sharks team with Agent Zero, Gilbert Arenas, who media reports are saying got hurt and could be out an extended period of time. Beijing led by a well balanced group of Chinese players and CBA star Stephon Marbury, looked every bit the defending champions, as they had no trouble with Shanghai.

    The season kicks off for the remaining teams, early Sunday morning USA time, Sunday evening China time. Recap of the games Monday morning!

    Gaziantep Basketbol (BSL) agreed terms with 26-year old American guard Marcus Denmon (191-84kg-90, college: Missouri). He played last summer at Hunan in Chinese NBL league. In 6 games he had very impressive stats: 44.5ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.7apg and 2.5spg. The last season Denmon played at Istanbul BBSK where in 21 BSL games he recorded also remarkable stats: 15.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg.     Former NBA player Fredette Jimmer (188-PG-89, college: BYU) broke the hearts of Mighty Sports-Philippines in the Merlion Cup as he engineered a 78-77 victory for the Shanghai Sharks in the gold medal game of the tournament Sunday night at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
