AGENT ZERO CHANCE? - Nov 2, 2012

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

After months of speculation, citing many media sources and credible outlets, the Gilbert Arenas (192-G-82, college: Arizona) tour that was suppose to begin in China this season, apparently has now stalled, to no ones immediate surprise. What once was an all star career in the NBA, has no become more of a side show, and a Where's Waldo in terms of career choices for the player once dubbed by Adidas, Agent ZERO.

After a shameful exit from the Washington Wizards, in which Arenas and another player ( who has also been banished from the NBA) were involved in a gun altercation, Arenas has stumbled in Orlando, made a short pit stop in Memphis, and neither can be coined as successful. Arena's latest act,has him flirting with the far east, specifically China, which in recent years has become a destination for former NBA stars and roster cuts.

This season McGrady Tracy (203-G/F-79) signed with perennial bottom feeder, Qingdao Double Star Eagles, and this prompted Arenas to conjure a make belief relationship with the leagues top team over the past decade, the Guandong Southern Tigers Tigers, who coincidentally signed back former NBA and Arenas' teammate from the Wizards, Yi Jianlian (212-PF-87). Around the time of Yi's signing, is when this obsession with Arenas started to fester, daily interviews and "tweets" from Arenas suggested that he was close to terms with the powerhouse from the CBA, all the while, the NBA season was fast approaching, and its aging former star was without even a training camp invite.

Arenas clearly still believes he can contribute to an NBA team, and that still may be a true, after all we are talking about a player who during a 3 year span (04-07) had season avgs of 25.5,29.3 and 28.4 ppg, and scoring a jaw dropping 60 points on a certain #8 and the Los Angeles Lakers, yet that is what makes this story even sadder, since his incident in Washington, he has become someone more known for his personality issues and off-court antics then his talent on the court, this fiasco with the Chinese team makes you understand why the NBA has distanced themselves from one of their brightest stars.

Elijah Holman claims Chinese CBA weekly honour - 15 hours ago
American Elijah Holman (208-F/C-89, agency: Pensack Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Tianjin GL and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 8. The 28-year old power forward had a double-double of 31 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team beat Jilin NE T. (#15, 2-6) 116-104. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Tianjin GL moved-u...   [read more]

CBA Round 8: Leader Zhejiang Guangsha Lions lose to Blue Whales - 1 day ago
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in CBA, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Top ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (6-2) recorded its second loss in Sichuan on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by eighteenth ranked Blue Whales (2-6) 120-116. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Blue Whales made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St.,   [read more]

CBA Round 7 of Regular Season - 3 days ago
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in CBA, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games, favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory. Round 7 in CBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Hangzhou where host Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (6-1) crushed le...   [read more]
