29-year old forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-F-83) had a very impressive game in the last round for Heilongjiang and receives a Asia-basket.com NBL Player of the Week award for round 10. He had a double-double of 35 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Hong Kong (#3, 7-3) 121-108. Heilongjiang maintains the 7th position in Chinese NBL. Heilongjiang is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-5 record. In the team's last game Pinkney had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Heilongjiang, being already a very valuable addition to the team. The University of Nevada graduate has very impressive stats this year. Pinkney is in league's top in points (2nd best: 29.5ppg), rebounds (7th best: 13.7rpg), assists (6th best: 3.4apg) and averages solid 2.1spg and 57.4% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Craig Smith (201-F-83) of Hong Kong. He is American forward in his first season at Hong Kong. In the last game Smith recorded impressive 41 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Hong Kong lost that game 108-121 to the lower-ranked Heilongjiang (#7, 5-5). This loss caused Hong Kong to drop to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 7-3 record is not bad at all. Smith is one of the most experienced players at Hong Kong and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 32.3ppg (#1). He also registered 14.2 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Bryan Davis (206-F-86, agency: N.E.T.) of Jiang Xi (#9). Davis scored 29 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Jiang Xi, leading his team to a 102-97overtime win against Nanjin Army (2-8). Jiang Xi can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Davis he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Davis as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Nan Wang (198-G/F-87) of Heilongjiang - 35 points and 9 assists 5. Hassan Whiteside (213-C/F-89) of Sichuan BW - 18 points and 14 rebounds 6. Josh Harrellson (208-F-89) of Chongqing FD - 18 points and 22 rebounds 7. QinShuo Deng (205-F-92) of Nanjin Army - 22 points and 8 rebounds 8. Xin Feng (187-PG-92) of Jiangsu TX - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 9. Shawne Williams (206-F-86) of Guangzhou L. - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Othello Hunter (203-F-86) of Jiangsu TX - 15 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
