Gani Lawal
Nigerian forward Gani Lawal (206-F-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Xinjiang F.T., receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 24 rebounds, while his team beat Shanxi Zh. (#10, 8-9) 100-94. Xinjiang F.T. maintains the 8th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Xinjiang F.T. will need more victories to improve their 9-7 record. Lawal turned to be Xinjiang F.T.'s top player in his first season with the team.

The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old American Charles Gaines (201-F-81) of Shanxi Zh.. Gaines had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Shanxi Zh. lost that game 94-100 to slightly higher-ranked Xinjiang F.T. (#8, 9-7). This loss caused Shanxi Zh. to drop to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-9 record. Gaines is a newcomer at Shanxi Zh., but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.4ppg (#5). He also registered 12.9 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Lester Hudson (191-G-84) of Qingdao DS (#12). Hudson got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds and twelve assists. He was a key player of Qingdao DS, leading his team to a 93-81 win against the higher-ranked Guangsha L. (#3, 13-5). The chances of Qingdao DS not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Hudson could try to bring Qingdao DS's a little bit higher in the standings. Hudson has individually a great season in China. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 33.3ppg (2nd best) and assists with 6.2apg (2nd best). He also has 3.4spg and FGP: 54.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Randolph Morris (211-F/C-86) of Beijing Ducks - 35 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Mike Harris (198-F-83) of Shanghai S. - 36 points and 7 rebounds
6. Donnell Harvey (203-F/C-80) of TianJin R. - 26 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. James Singleton (203-F-81) of Guandong ST - 18 points, 22 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Lei Wang (203-F-86) of Bayi Fubang - 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Shavlik Randolph (208-F-83) of DongGuan L. - 28 points and 16 rebounds
10. Will McDonald (211-C-79) of Fujian XX - 30 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
