Miao leads North to win WCBA All-Star match
- Mar 20, 2010
Former WNBA player
Miao LiJie (180-G-81) scored 32 points to spearhead the North for a
97-91 victory over the South in the All-Star match of the Women's China
Basketball Association (WCBA) league Friday evening.
Lagging behind for most part of the match, Miao made a perfect scoring
percentage from the shooting perimeter as well as the free throw line to
be crowned as the Most Valuable Player of the match.
During the match, both sides hit stunning percentages of more than 70
percent as neither side executed too much efforts in defense and
committed a few fouls, and the South led the first quarter 35-30 and
entered the second half at 52-50.
The North side levelled the scoreboard at the beginning of the third
quarter before the South regained its margin immediately and kept the
slim margin to the last quarter at 74-70.
Miao, who scored seven points in the first half, led the surge to
overtake the South 88-83 with three minutes to go. After a 6-0 run from
the South, Miao stepped forward for a 6-0 revenge with teammates for a
94-91 lead.
Without being fouled in the dying seconds, Miao hit another
three-pointer to beat the buzzer and win the All-Star match as well as
the MVP honor.
