Aimar Sabayo
The Extra Joss Fighters aim to spring a surprise in the third and final game of the semifinal playoff game of the Cambodia Basketball League (CBL) against Davies Megacryl this weekend. The returning Janno Cunanan is eager to make an impression at his opponents' expense after a bout with injuries limited the Megacryl star's court-time in recent weeks. He urged fans to show their support at the Olympic Stadium encounter on Saturday afternoon. 'The fans will be in for an exciting and intense game. Davies will bounce back!' the mercurial Filipino said. Davies will need to bring back the high-pressure defense that was used in Game 1 if they want to advance. They will also need to keep Extra Joss' Jomar Santos from finishing near the basket. Extra Joss put on their own defensive display, double and triple teaming Aimar Sabayo (188-C-87) to keep him in tough scoring positions in Game 2. They shot the ball well enough from distance, and Santos was able to muscle his way inside for points down low. The winners of the all-important game will go on to face Pate Phnom Penh 310's conquerors Mekong Tigers in a best of three final. Pate was dethroned as the champions fell to the resurgent Mekong Tigers over two games in the other semifinal playoff. Game three will tip-off at 3 pm on Saturday at the indoor arena of the Olympic Stadium. Entrance is free.
