The Cambodian Men National Team will face Thailand in its first game of SEA 2015, taking place in Singapore, on June 9th.
Headcoach Austin Koledoye has announced its roster:
#11 - Pek Mith
#6 - Phatara Khvan
#12 - Ratana Sak
#5 - William Em
#10 - Sopheeng Toun
#7 - Dar Antony Dominic
#13 - Tour Sok (180-C-87)
#9 - Jonathan Koy
#4 - Vannak Som
#8 - Phanat Ouch (168-PG-81)
#15 - Hour Pichbounchour (184-C-90)
#14 - Vengngoun Kim (180-C-83)
According to Koledoye, their first game will set the ambitions of the team "My approach is to take one game at a time, as you know we are in a very tough group and only the top two teams advance to the medals table, we see how it goes, I am very optimist and at the same time very realistic, after our first match on the June 9th against Thailand and seeing other teams in our group play, I will be able to give a clear assessment of how far the team will go." .
Only the top 2 teams of the group will advance to the semifinals. Koledoye said: "In our group we have Singapore and last year runners up Thailand; these are strong Basketball countries, I think both team have assume they will qualify in the group but they will still have to contend with Cambodia and Vietnam, nothing is taking for granted in the game of Basketball." . He added: "I am confident in my players I think our strength this year is I have players with SEA games experience and they know what it takes to compete at that level, they are mentally strong and focused , we are not just adding up to the numbers , we going to compete, again I have enough player for rotation unlike before, I think our weakness can be compensated with our desire to do well, we have not been together for long, like other teams and we don't have a big center players, we do recognize these challenges and we are working on it, and we don't want that to be an excuse."
