First ever All Star Game in Cambodia - Jan 15, 2015

On Saturday December 13th the Olympic Stadium Indoor Arena hosted the first ever All Star Game in Cambodia, sponsored by Smart. That was the last event of the Angkor Beer Cambodian Basketball League 2014, co-‐sponsored by Pepsi and Smart.

The International All Stars started the first quarter strong, especially through Ben Laird, hitting 3 times from behind the arc. But the Khmer All Stars came back into the game thanks to Tour Sok (scoring 6 points in the quarter). And just before the end of the 1st quarter, the Khmer All Stars managed to take a 1 point lead, 16:15
In the 2nd quarter, Pheng Darath gave his team a 7 points lead, scoring from behind the arc, but with 4 minutes to play, Jeffrey Cruz managed to tie the game 31:31, scoring alone on fast break. Coach Chris Borja put his starting five back on the court, and Jeff Kane immediately hit the 3-‐pointer to make it 31:34. The Khmer All Star team was relying a lot on their outside shoots, but it was actually now the International team scoring from behind the arc, with Jeff Kane again (31:37). Phanat Ouch managed to score a spectacular basket on fast break, getting the additional free throw (33:37). Score at halftime was 35:39.
At halftime, Gabriele Castaldo performed a Dunk exhibition that delighted the audience. Two-‐handed alley-‐oop dunk, 360 dunk and so on...
The beginning of the 3rd quarter, saw a beautiful behind-‐the-‐back pass form Phanat Ouch on Sok Samnang to score under the rim. But Gabriele Castaldo kept the International All Stars in front with his fade-‐away shots. Sabayo then extended the lead to 43:51. Jeff Kane and Janno Cunanan then increased the lead to 43:56. Ouch Phanant managed to reduce the gap to 47:56 scoring twice on fast break. Monh Ratana then reduced to 50:56 from behind the arc. Ran Kim then reduced to 54:58. But Aimar Sabayo could beat the buzzer on a tip-‐in rebound to make it 54:62 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
In the last quarter, the International team took a large lead, thanks to strong defense and fast breaks. Ben Laird scored 7 points in the first minutes of the 4th. With 7 minutes to play, the score was 58:73. The Khmer All Stars seemed tired and Cunanan and his teammates could take profit of it, in creasing the lead to 58:79. With 4 minutes to play, Gabriele Castaldo finished off with a 2 handed dunk that put the audience on fire. Score was 60:86. Meas Ravuth tried to close the gap, scoring twice in a row, but Carlos Gatdula and John Cornito (173-PG-85) maintained the lead for the International All Star, scoring from behind the arc. The last offense ended with a one handed dunk by Aimar Sabayo. Final score in this exhibition game: 71:98. Victory of the International All Stars

ALLN Supermen win CBL Finals - 6 months ago
ALLN Supermen win CBL Finals tonight. They overcame Extra Joss fighters 80-55 to end the fighters unbeaten run. In the game for the third place Bayon Airlines posted a 68-66 win over MSGM. Only due to the final 23-13 push in the last stanza, Bayon managed to seal the victory. Bayon Airlines won the Bronze medals.   [read more]

The 2016 Cambodian Basketball League season reaches its thrilling climax on Saturday when the top-ranked Extra Joss Fighters and their arch-rivals ALLN Confucius Supermen square off in the title game at the Olympic Stadium Indoor Arena. Extra Joss fighters and ALLN Confucius supermen as expected cruised into the Finals of the CBL with emphatic wins over MSGM and Bayon Airline Respectively on Saturday at the Indoor hall of the National Stadium.
