YUAN Thong Enterprise (YTE) overcame a late charge by DMC Enterprise to prevail 79-74 in the 1st Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) League last night. Playing with only six players, Ahmad Termizi Nordeen carried the load at the offensive end to finish with a team-high of 23 points. Darren Chai provided plenty of firepower with 22 points to his name while the duo of Gideon Fong and Samuel Jong added 14 and 10 points respectively in the win. On the other hand, Goh De No produced a game-high of 25 points to pace the way for DMC. Liew Chee Hau contributed 14 points while the pair of Andy Ang and Yong Kui Seng each chipped in 10 points to a losing cause. The win is their eighth in the competition ending the double round-robin league.
The second match saw Le Doux Patisserie put up a no show for the second straight game in as many days against I-Cyber. The result gifts the latter passage into the next round of the six-team competition knocking out both DMC and Syarikat Bukit Ladang. The top four teams will meet in a best-of-three playoffs format with the first seed taking on the fourth and the second facing the third. Mochi-Each A Cup (MEAC) are firm favourites to win the inaugural league having won all nine of their matches so far with one remaining. MEAC will face Le Doux, who have four wins to their name tied with I-Cyber, in their final first round game.
