Satria Muda Eliminates Barracudas from Playoffs Contention
Sunday, January 02, 2011, Bandar Seri Begawan Five players in double figures empowered Satria Muda to eliminate the Brunei Barracudas from playoffs contention with an 87 70 victory.
Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) leading the pack with 22 points, Mario Wuysang (177-G-79) chipping in 19 points and 7 assists and Antoine Broxsie (209-F-79, college: Oklahoma St.) added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Francis Adriano (188-F-75) and new guy Ricky Ricafuente (172-G-76) had 12 points apiece, with the former also filling up the stats sheet with 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals.

Chris Commons (204-F-84, college: USC Aiken lead the Brunei Barracudas with 23 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists, fellow Christopher Garnett (211-C-80, college: Indiana SE) netted 22 points with 12 boards and Chester Tolomia (191-G-80) chipped in 12 points.

The Barracudas were off to a quick start with a 10 3 run in one and a half minutes into the first quarter, however their lead had been reduced inches by inches behind the team effort of Satria Muda and only held to a 22 19 slim lead. The Barracudas were still able to keep things under control in the second quarter as they maintain their 3 points advantage at 40 37 to close up the first half.

Satria Muda came out from the locker room to roar for a 7 0 run to start the third quarter and never looked back. Barracudas tried hard to keep pace with the better morale Satria Muda but only to see the momentum, the game and the postseason berth slipping away thereafter. Satria Muda outscored Barracudas in both third (29 17) and forth quarter (21 13).

The Brunei Barracudas (3-10) are now officially eliminated from the playoffs contention as they lost head-to-head match ups to the Singapore Slingers. Satria Muda (5-8) however, with this huge victory is close to occupying the driver seat of the competition with Singapore Slingers for the final playoffs berth. They will take over the fourth position in the league ladder from the Slingers with head-to-head advantage if the Slingers failed to end their current losing streak against the Westport KL Dragons this Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur.
