There was no surprise in Taiyuan where 17th ranked Sturgeons (1-6) were crushed by third ranked Loongs (5-2) 119-94 on Monday. Loongs dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Sturgeons' 40. They outrebounded Sturgeons 51-36 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Loongs looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Sturgeons' players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Lin Chang (206-1988, college: LBSU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Kahlil Felder (175-1995, college: Oakland) helped adding 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Australian-South Sudanese center Thon Maker (216-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Zeng Lingxuan (191-2003) scored 30 points and 4 assists. Five Loongs and four Sturgeons players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Loongs maintains third place with 5-2 record having four points less than leader Zhejiang GB., which they share with Shandong H. and Jiangsu D. Sturgeons lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with six games lost. They share it with Shanghai S. and Sichuan BW. Loongs will meet at home Ducks (#7) in the next round. Sturgeons will play against Blue Whales (#19) in Sichuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
