Regular Season Round 5: Toyoda - Tokyo HT 70-77

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Toyoda (2-4) lost to fourteenth ranked Tokyo HT (2-4) in Aichi 70-77 on Sunday. American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Justin Baker (203-1989, college: Utah Valley) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Ren Takemura (170-1995) came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Toyoda in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo HT moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Toyoda. Tokyo HT will meet at home Gifu (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Toyoda will play against Iwate (#3) and hope to secure a win.
