There was a surprise result when Heroes beat Royal Fighters in Jinan 104-93 on Thursday. Heroes looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American swingman Brandon Paul (193-1991, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) notched 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Hanlin Tao (208-1991) supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Heroes players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds by the former international center Changdong Yu (206-1991) did not help to save the game for Royal Fighters. American point guard Trae Golden (189-1991, college: Georgia Tech) added 21 points and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Heroes will meet Monkey Kings in the next round. Royal Fighters will play against Flying Tigers and hope to win that game.
